Ask a Question

Hi,
I have menu with sub items. Also the top menu item is a page, but it does not open in mobile menu. Mobile menu expands nicely, but I can only open the sub menu pages. The top menu item page does not.

In picture attached you can see two menu items with sub menu items. "NLP koulutus" is expanded. I can open all the sub pages, but "NLP koulutus" is also a page. If I tap that, it will just close the sub menu, not open the page called "NLP koulutus".

Sirpa,

Please add another item to submenu linking to the parent page.

Thank you!

I'm having the same problem on this site http://www.childreninclearningcenter.com/

There is a sub menu item under Services and under Careers. On the PC both Service and Careers pages open when those items are clicked and sub menu items work also.

Please explain more fully how to make the sub menu work on mobile devices.

Hi,

Let me specify a lit bit of how our system works.

If the menu has items and subitems, then in the mobile menu your item will work as a separator. This means that clicking on them will open/close the list of its subitems, and the item page itself will not open, as on the Desktop.
This is exactly what is arranged in our program and this cannot be changed. Therefore, if you need a submenu on mobiles, then you will have to rearrange the menu structure.

Marti, now I don't see your sub menu items under Services and under Careers. Did you solve your problem with menu? if no, please let us know,

Hello team,
I am experiencing the same. Based on the answer from the support, I am quite confused. Does it mean, that some items, that should be possible to use on mobile, should be on the parrent level, and cannot have any child-items? If it is like that, is it possible to assign different menu to mobiles, than to the desktops etc.? (Joomla! 3.9.14). It does not make any sense for me, to use on desktop parrent menu item, linking to the same page, as its subitem.
Thanks,
Michal

Hi,

The mobile menu works in such a way, that if the item has subitems, then the parent item works as the separator only. You can use different menu positions in the desktop mode and in the phone mode. Just add two menu controls in the header and then you can set each one to be hidden on the desktop view or in the mobile view. Then in Joomla assign different menus to these positions.
