I finally broke down and paid for a new subscription because I was so frustrated at not being able to upgrade to a joomla 4 template.

IMagine my frustration at having paid once again for just a template for one site and getting the following message upon trying to install a 4/5 template into Joomla 4.

Once again I am frustrated. I cannot imagine how a non-technical person would ever deal with this product.

Vote to pay developers attention to this features or issue.

I do see it in the list. But non of the data was there and I still get that them not activated message whenever I do am install of the theme.
In past editions it ould ask if I wanted to set the default. It does that nut then goes no further. It used to ask about installing the temese and content.

Hello Robert,

When you export only a theme file (check only the theme in the export dialog with desktop application) and import it into Joomla no further activation or import content is available.

Theme can be set as default only in the list of Template Styles in Joomla.
To set your theme as default you need to press the star sign.
You can test your new theme after activations with a new Joomla article.

Let us know about this issue more -

I set the export per the attached file and could go no further. I was able to import the data seperately but not as part of the extension install.

I can import the nicepage zip file in a completely fresh copy of joomla 4. However the copy that was updated from j3 to j4 responds differently upon install of the template.

when installing it gets to the "set default" and no further. it puts up a red message saying theme not activated and will go no further. So I never get to import menus.

I can import data using the nicepage plugin but it still does not import the menus.

I stripped everything dow to the original J3 site and began again.My theory is that maybe I could see what I was doing along the way that caused the problem. Interestingly this time I did not have the problem but I cannot tell you what changed. There were so many changes from J3 to J4. So I guess it is moot at this point.

However, I do have another question. When I install a modified template it asked if I want to import or replace content, I choose replace content. It does not replace content it adds content with the same same and a new number in parentheses. Over time I end up with many copies of the same article but with different numbers. Is this the way it is supposed to work?

Hello Robert,

We had a previous topic with Nicepage installation to Joomla 4, please continue the conversation for one question within one ticket.

After the Joomla updates to 4 version, you need to install the Nicepage plugin for Joomla4 as an archive first and continue importing theme pages as usual.
Import content with replace content will replace only in case of pages not being changed, page name and other settings and images are the same.
Meni will be imported if you press import menu checkbox during installation.
