Ask a Question

We really need the ability to add metadata to the blog posts. A business trying to build an online presence looks pretty lame when all their social shares have the same image over and over on Facebook or Twitter. Social sharing is a big deal for most. I added social share buttons to the bottom of my blog post page template, but I'm considering removing them because the image shared doesn't match the blog post. What's the point of blogging if you're embarrassed with how social sharing looks? Curious how everyone else works around this without looking ridiculous on social media?? Any work around that I'm not thinking of?

Hello Crystal,

There are no post or blog metadata settings, which is why you can add SEO only in Site Settings.
The posts do not have their own individual settings like pages there is simply no way to separate each post and add meta tags, you can try with Post template> Additional head, but this would be the same tags for all posts.

For HTML export: if you add metadata in Page Settings of Blog Template, it will be exported for the blog page only and cannot be used to replace the default description specified in the site settings.
For this, you need to add like this:

blog-temp-meta.jpg

The blog template title cannot be changed.

We have added the request to fill in SEO data for post pages to our wishlist.

Sincerely,
Anna.

I'm extremely frustrated. First I find out that I can't og:image my blog posts. Now, I just discovered I also can't sitemap, robot.txt, or Apple touch icon either. You should probably stop advertising that you have SEO capabilities without informing clients prior to purchase and before countless hours of build time, that you don't offer these capabilities! Some of these are critical for SEO! After scouring the forum, I see others making these same suggestions and being displeased, and the stock answer always seems to be that you will add them to the wishlist. Some of those wishlist promises appear to have been made a year ago, or more in some cases. I don't want to have to move my site to a new host after all the work I've put in...but I may have to. During this new rebrand, we changed our domain & rebuilt a website using Nicepage. Because I can't import a sitemap, google can't index our site for updates! What do you suggest I do about that?

Hello Crystal,

Unfortunately, posts do not have their own metadata.
There is no such possibility to load any external file to the nicepage.com hosting. But you can generate a sitemap and upload it on your own hosting or get it in one of the supported CMS like WordPress or Joomla.

Sincerely,
Anna.
