Ask a Question

Hello.
I have two questions about Nicepage's translation function.

  1. Does the website recognize the browser language and switch it automatically when it is available on the website?

  2. Are the translated pages listed in search engine results, or is only the main language listed?

I want to make my website available in German and English. But it is important to me that the language is changed automatically and that the German version appears in Google's search results. The main language should be English.

From an SEO and usability perspective, is it sufficient if I use your translation function, or should I use a third-party plugin?

Hello Emanuel,

No, Nicepage multilanguage has no such option you need to switch the language to recognize the browser language and switch it automatically when it is available on the website. For this you need a content management system (CMS) with multilingual support and prepare translated versions of your website's content. Each language should have its own set of web pages or content. Nicepage option creates an alternative version of the page with the default language for another language and you can set different text for different languages.
There are some limitations to the feature, as for now, you cannot set different canonical links for one page in different languages. For an HTML site, you can specify the canonical link as a relative link e.g. "index.html" then it will point to the home.html page in the corresponding folder/subfolder.

Anna.

So would you rather recommend me to translate my website with Loco Translate? Is the translation plugin fully translated?

Hello Emanuel,

You can use Loco plugin, of course, you might need some adjustments with it to add some specific to your language translation.
