Ask a Question

Hi!

I need to set up a fixed position for a Joomla Module - or any content for that matter. Something similar to this:
https://www.w3schools.com/Css/css_positioning.asp

But I would like it to be placed anywhere on the page. It seems that it would have to located in the header, but there appears no way of adding a block outside of the header.

It would be nice if the Nicepage position is only visible when the module or content is visible. We were able to do this with Themler.

thanks.

Apparently the features in Wordpress are fully supported but not Joomla. Nicepage can add/edit content on Joomla, but it can't create a fully functional generic template or homepage for Joomla at this time and no stated timeline for support either.

In the interim, this component may help: https://www.regularlabs.com/extensions/advancedmodulemanager.

But I have yet to be able to create a working site with only Nicepage at this time for Joomla.

Thanks for your suggestion! Ill look into it. I like the Regularlabs plugins - I use the modal plugin frequently.

So far I have some very good results in development with Nicepage & Joomla. It just works a bit differently than the Themlers of the past and I must admit, it has taken a bit of getting used to. The "Template" in Nicepage really only consists of the header and footer sections. As long as you don't install the Nicepage menus things work great, especially if you already have the categories and menus figured out. I think Nicepage sometimes tries to do too much and overlaps what the CMS's do.

So using Nicepage as a page designer for the Homepage works pretty well because the home page is almost always a bit different from the rest of the site. You can place Joomla modules anywhere you want on the home page. I use SEBLOD for my content types, Forms and Lists and can place these modules in any other page. For the rest of the site, you can either create a new page, or use the blog template.

While I would agree that there are still some shortcomings with Nicepage in the Joomla world, you can also do some pretty cool things. Overall the Nicepage team seems aggressive with new releases and constant development. It sure would be nice if there was a way to do fixed blocks! I have several places I need them. They would be very similar to the scroll to top option that isn't available yet - Another feature Im looking forward to...

anyway thanks!

Hi Randy,

I'm sorry for the delay. I have found this case in our grid without an answer. I just wanted to mention that we use the default Joomla functionality to handle the module positions. I mean that Joomla allows placing module positions inside the template parts. And if you want to place the module position within the content area (the Nicepage pages) then you can use the loadposition option that Joomla provides. that means that they allow loading the existing module position within the content. That can also be done using Nicepage, just add the position control with the existing position name within the content and it will load the existing position with its content. That is described in our article:
https://nicepage.com/doc/article/6700/how-to-use-positions-in-nicepage-joomla-extension

Your suggestion about the back to top button is also counted for our wishlist.
