Ask a Question

Follow up on request for support: Please can I have some "hands on" support on this blog-business? Setting up a blog from NP to WP is not at all logic and straight forward to none WP techies. I have had several support answers telling me it's easy: Just do this and that, as if it was obvious to anyone. Well, it's not to me. You need to improve this setup - or at least make a step by step how to video.

In previous support question I mentioned that I managed to set up a blog link in the menu (trial and error, really)

See http://camilleessther.dentop.dk/

There is some sort of blog on this page, but with a Wordpress look (Yeeiiks!) not with the Nicepage Theme layout and certainly not with the Nicepage edit tools! And where are Blog and Posts templates? Is it suppose to look this way?

Hi John,

The Blog Template you see in Nicepage Desktop is a template for WordPress blog layout pages (posts page, tags, archive, etc). The Blog template does not create a blog page. It creates a template (style and layout). Nicepage theme creates a design, WordPress creates the blog page. The instruction we provided you previously is a standard instruction for WordPress. There is nothing specific to Nicepage.
You need to create the desired blog page layout in Nicepage, install the Nicepae theme, and create a page where WP can display posts. This page cannot be edited in Nicepage because starting with the moment when you specified this static page as WP Posts page it is no longer a static page. This is the blog page. This page uses Blog Template from Nicepage theme.
Nicepage editor is working with the static pages only.

The same is related to the Post template. This template does not create a post or page. This template is used by WordPress posts and pages not created in Nicepage.

So, this page
http://camilleessther.dentop.dk/?page_id=2
displays WordPress Posts in a blog format and uses Nicepage Blog Template.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Olivia

Okay Olivia. It makes some sort of sense to me. So I actually managed to set up the blog as it should be done? And if so, then it is possible to start blogging, using the WP tools and the blog page will eventually show up online using the template from Nicepage. Right?

I admire your patience Olivia. Customers like me must really be annoying :)

Hi John,

I suggest that you add a new Wordpress Post under the Posts >> Add New WP menu. You should see this post on the blog page on your website. This page uses Blog Template. The single Post
http://camilleessther.dentop.dk/hej-verden/
uses Post Template.

Please note that Nicepage creates Pages, the blog page displays Posts only. In WordPress Post and Page are different content types.

Let us know if you have any further questions.
