Ask a Question

Hello,

The 'Reset' feature is confusing.

I will open a display mode and discover that it has been altered by work I've done on another display. When I click on 'Reset' I would expect this feature to restore the display to the previous condition as it was when I left it.

Unfortunately, the 'Reset' wipes out the unwanted alterations - plus the most recent work I had done before I switched to another screen. It reverts everything two steps back and I have to redo my previous work.

This is why you need a 'step change manager' similar to CorelDRAW. I have no way to go back or restore a previous step in my workflow.

How is this 'reset' feature supposed to work? it doesn't seem to be helpful at all.

Please advise, thanks,

Guy

Hi, Guy,

This button resets all changes made in responsive views and returns them to the default design. This option is needed when you have any design or layout issues with responsive views (for example, incorrect margins), and it sets default values for all Elements within one Block in all responsive modes. Do not use this option if you have no issues with responsive design.

Please note that the better practice is to design your pages starting from the left (Desktop) to the right (Portrait Mobile) without skipping any view.

Let us know if you need our further help!

Hello Paul,
Thanks for explaining this to me. The online documentation provides only general information.
I will avoid using this 'reset' feature in the future.
I am designing as you suggest. Unfortunately, all 6 display modes are linked together and this is the cause of the problems I am having. The mobile displays are completely different from the larger displays. It is most difficult to work on mobile displays and avoid the 'Nicepage wack-a-molly' that results on the larger displays.
Neither the 'reset', 'lock' or 'hide' are much help in this matter since they affect all the other display modes as well.

Is the best way to avoid 'Nicepage wack-a-molly' - by designing each display mode separately and hide it from the other 5 display modes?

I dislike having to click 'hide' for every item on my design and there should just be a 'hide setting' that will hide everything until I'm finished with hiding items.

Please let me know, thanks,
Guy

Hi, Guy,

This is normal behavior when the design of one responsive mode affects others. The design of the first mode (Desktop or Large Devices) always affects other modes, and when you change something in these modes, all other views change as well. That is why we recommend our users edit their pages from Desktop mode to Mobile mode. Please check this article, it may be helpful for you: https://nicepage.com/doc/36215/build-responsive-websites
