Change text to link

I have a schedule page for a rock band. I'd like the name of the venue to be a link to their website. When I highlight the text and create it, the entire text block becomes the link. The caption field fills in with all the info from the block and if it's erased the block is blank.

I only edit it every month or two. Seems to me I used to be able to highlight text to create a link without taking the entire page along for the ride.

I've changed the block to text, and tried to embed links on selected text. Nope. Please tell me it's not a Premium Feature.

The field that auto fills when I click edit is called "caption".

I thought about adding a button or hyperlink, but then I'd have floating things I'd have to deal with.

I'd like a "text file with embedded high-lighted text that links to external web sites".

It worked a month ago kinda, but it's always been dicey.

I saved the content to a text file, created a new page and text block, copy/pasted the text file, selected all, removed formatting (twice), selected line of text in the middle of the page, it created the proper link. Same for the rest. Not a clue why it kinda works now. I operate audio gear.

Hello,

If you want to add the link inside the text control only to some words you should use the link option on the popup toolbar:

link-button.png

But if you choose some words and use the "Hyperlink" option on the right-side panel, then the link will be added to the entire text control:

That used to work for me. All of a sudden, nope.
My first and second post are what happened when I tried to do it that way.
The entire text block became a hyperlink.
My third post is my workaround.
