Windows app update process removes pinned status

Do you mean the application is removed as pinned from the taskbar or something else?

Correct. If pinned to the taskbar before the update, the pinning gets dropped during the update.

One other suggestion for the app - it would help if there was an option within the menu system to allow viewing of the app version and then to allow connection to update to the latest version if applicable.

Apparently, it is somehow specific to the system OS, we couldn't observe this with Windows 11. We will try to catch this with a new update. Have you searched online for the reason pinned taskbar icons could disappear? Do you have this for other applications?
You have a popup after the update of the new features added as a preview. You can check for new features in the newsletter first before updating. Unfortunately, no system preview could be available.
