Ask a Question

Good morning
I'm evaluating Nicepage and I'm trying to create some sample simple site, just to see if the product fits my requirements,
I have 2 PC: one desktop (the main one) and a notebook (used when I'm out of office).
I tried to work on the same sample project, but when I switched to the other PC I haven't found the project.
Is it possible to share projects between more than one PC?
It would be enough just save them inside a cloud, but I haven't found a way to select a "work folder" where to save/load them.

Thanks in advance
Best

Hi Massimo,

If you need to work on the two locations, then you need to export the theme as a Project on the first location and then import it on the second. And repeat when you need to transfer the project back.

A lot of (same) webstites imported websites.
Please take a look to the attached file.

This isn't a very good solution to the problem. It would be better to let us decide where to store the project instead of making us store it in the location you choose. I would rather store each of my customer's websites in their individual folders on my PC. I could then copy that folder to my laptop and open the project there.

Hi Massimo,

Nicepage can open websites located in a specific folder only. But you can choose this location under the Preferences. If you need to move the project from one computer to another you can use Export as Project option or you can copy only the website folder.

Hi,

We recommend using a local folder.
You will not be able to open projects if the cloud or any network folder will not be accessible at some moment.

I use cloud folder (mapped locally) and I found a trick to configure them on different pc.
It is not so intuitive, but it is possible to do.

Basically you must not setup using interface, but using the
config.json
file of Nicepage located in c:\Users...\AppData\Roaming\Nicepage\config.json
Open it with notepad and find the item
"projectsFolder": "......"

Manually replace the value of the item
(for example "C:\Users\...\Google Drive\Documents\Nicepage\Projects\Nicepage" )

Now you can run Nicepage.

Anyway, I suggest a simplier way to do it, because the use of cloud folders is very common (and useful)

Best
Massimo

This is an incredibly frustrating setup. May I ask why you are not implementig cloud storage? That you have to export your project over and over again when you work at two locations EVEN with premium confuses me. This would be such an important point for me to consider buying premium. The adobe creative cloud storage makes my workflow so much faster and I never want to go back. The current state of nicepages export feature is in my eyes "clunky" and dated in times of the adobe creative cloud. Is this a point you are considering for future updates? Don't get me wrong. I find it extremely important that the export feature is there but you should give professionals a choice on how they want to work. I'm no network expert so I'm sure this would be absolutely no easy thing to impliment but the fact that your support team doesn't even mention that A this is a point they are allready working on or B that this is a point on the wishlist.

It's just so extremely confusing to me.

Because not everyone WANTS forced cloud storage. I have nothing against this function being added, but it should be a choice offered to the user if they want to use it or not. I want mine OFFLINE.

Agree with both tiemo.brants2 and Ch3vr0n.

A missed function, really. When you work on two devices this is one of the biggest frustration actually.

But cloud should be chosen and not forced.

HI!
Thanx for all great input, from both users and the supporteam.

I'm most concern about that "Nicepage" is marketing it selfs as "Nicepage is like Adobe Muse only better" (https://nicepage.com/lp-muse-builder)

If it's only better, why do we all have these issues?
I had Muse before and it was awesome.

I agree with everyone about wanting to be able to store the project in a location we prefer whether it's in our customer's directory or in the cloud. When I'm done with a customer's job I would prefer keeping the project in the directory I've created for them with all the other info I have for their site (graphics, content docs, backups, etc.). When I'm working on a current project I'd prefer to keep it in Dropbox so I can access it from my desktop or laptop at work or from my laptop when in a customer's office. When I'm in the desktop version I don't need to see all the other project's I've done, just the last one I had open. Or to be able to be able to select "File/Open" to see a list of the ones I've worked on previously. Just like almost every other program out there does. I would also like to be able to name my projects myself instead of them being called Site_nnnnnn.

For those of us who are in business doing web development it's a matter of being organized and efficient to do the best job we can for our customers.
