editing multiple table cells

You documentation shows the ability to select multiple cells in a table and edit the properties. When I select multiple cells the property window goes blank and then I can't edit anything. The only way I have found to edit them is one at a time. With dozens of cells in the table that is just ridiculous. How can I select multiple cells and edit them?
