Updating Theme adds images instead of replacing

Every time I update my theme created with Nicepage, I select replace previously content but this does not work for images so I found out I have a media library filled with thousands of repeated images! How can I stop this from happening?

Hello Diana,

Option to Replace previously imported Content was implemented to delete previous pages and upload new pages and was not meant to be applied to images. This option cannot replace your images in My library folder in WordPress.
You should clean up your images in My library manually from time to time.
