Ask a Question

Hi,

Is it possible to have more than one font in one object?

Like this:

font-family: "Gill Sans Extrabold", Helvetica, sans-serif;

I know there are pre build elements that have this feature, but I tried to copy paste the fonts It didn't let me to pass more than 1 font.

Regards.

Hi João,

The additional fonts will be applied automatically in the code. The site will use the second font if the first one in the row is unavailable.

I know that. What I dont know is how to add more fonts in a object.
The font I'm unable to do that is "Montserrat", I can't have second font after this one.
I guess all fonts that have other versions can't be able to have more than 1 font.
"Raleway" is another example that I can't have more than 1 font. when I try to put a "," after it apear "Raleway Dot".
"Montserrat" appear "Montserrat Alternate" so I bet this is a bug.

Hi João,

You cannot add fonts with a comma. When you select some custom font for an element, the alternate fronts will be added into the CSS code with another class name. It should be working fine on the live site. Also if the fronts are embedded correctly, you do not need the alternative font as your initial font will be always available.

Well, PageSeed Insights, tell me that my text is not visible while loading fonts, that's why I wanted to put multiple fonts in the elements.

It lead me to this website:

text remains visible during webfont load

Hi João,

Such speed checker services do not always provide objective info. It says that the text should be visible while the font is loading, the font loading speed is indicated in your screenshot to be between 20 and 80 ms. This is fast enough and no one would see the issue while the font is loading. Also you can try to open your site, disable the custom font and check that the text is visible and is using some other default font. This is the alternative font taken from the inherited styles.

I know I will not have problems with the font loading. I just wanted to get better result in the speed checker. I'm targeting 100%.
It sucks that I can't do that with so simple things to fix in your side. And yes there are 2 fonts in my css after Montserrat if shows san-sherif. Don't know why the speed checker don't detect that.

Hi João,

We cannot help you with this now, we'll consider providing the option for the alternate front in our wishlist.
