Ask a Question

Because the program generates 2 identical documents:
index.html and home.html
This must not be so; should only exist as home under index.html
Generating 2 identical documents is not good for SEO.

You should look for an effective solution to this problem.
It also doesn't let me rename the Home as index.html I get a warning that it can't be done.

Let's see what dais solution is effective. Thanks.

If it is more than discussed in the forum, because Nicepage does not effectively correct this problem. These are the things you don't understand about programmers. They should not do it because then people without experience would not understand why Home index.html instead of home.html, of course it is easier to leave it that way than to look for an effective solution. But this is not professional at all. At the very least they offer the ability to somehow remove home.html with a checkbox when publishing the web to HTML.

Hello,

Nicepage generates an index.html file as a copy of the page specified as the home page under the Site Settings. This is behavior by default caused by the fact that some of the hosting require this file. To avoid SEO problems related to two files with the same content we recommend that you set up a Canonical link under the Page Settings >> SEO
Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
Olivia

What do you mean by “some hosting requires this file?”
In what specific instances is the home.html file ever required?

Home.html is not needed as a static page on any server. I will put a canonical in the home. But it's not what I expected to have to do.
