Ask a Question

I had to reload windows and when I re-downloaded NicePage all my sites started to load up and were there. But now they are not there. I need help to get the sites added into nicepage again.

You need a backup of Documents\Nicepage or Project files from your old system.
The Project file should always be uploaded with the site when published as a backup. Unfortunately that isn’t the default.

What happens if we can't find a backup of the project files?

If you built them online using the web app, support "might" be able to get them back.
If you built them using the Desktop app, you'll need to rebuild them.
That's what backups are for.
That has nothing to do with Nicepage.
ALL your files are gone if you reinstall an OS.
External hard drives are cheap, and there are free imaging programs out there that work great, such as Macrium Reflect Free.
You could try using a restore/undelete app, such as Recuva (and there are many others, google it), to scan your current drive to see if anything from the old Documents folder could be recovered, but if anything was overwritten, it's unlikely.

ok, thanks, We do have a backup program Acronis and it had failed the week before the computer crashed also an external hard drive was backed up but project files are older, as we don't always export those out every time. We had made changes to sites but had not pushed them live. Lesson learned. I wasn't sure if nicepage backed up stuff.

If Project file backups are done, they are typically in the Nicepage\backups folder.
I always check the box on export to include the Project file in the files that are uploaded to my host.
That way I have the file off site and saved.
Unfortunately, that box is not checked by default.
I can't tell you how many times I've seen this posted since I started using the program.
If you are using a backup program, set it up to automatically email you when the backup is successful, and make sure you check to make sure it's doing what it needs to do, and I would send copies offsite also, using Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, etc to have Project files offsite.

Thanks for the advice. I will make sure all are in place.
I was able to recover most sites minus a few pages. Rebuilding them now. I think the issue was I had them backing up to my one drive, but it was my personal one and it was out of space so I think it was deleting them. I had old project files from june on my portable hard drive. I now have it backing up on one drive as well as backing up on an external hard drive. Lesson learned! Thanks!

I have same problem, and I lost all my websites, I have all backups but importing backups gave me an error !
