Ask a Question

Hi,

Got an issue with My Account link (or any other link) on the Woocommerce Template pages HEADER section.

When I put any link in the HEADER of the NORMAL page - upon exporting to the WordPress the links are updated to match the real-life website domain name.

But when I put the very same link in the HEADER section of a Woocommerce template - the link doesn't updates upon export.
The link stays the same - and thus becomes "the dead link"...

So, in a nutshell: The links in the HEADER section of the templates pages are not updating upon the export to the live Woocommerce site.

You could see it on the link below (try to click the My account link (human icon)) from a "normal" page and try again from a "shopping template" page...

The project is also attached.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi Sinisa,

Sorry for the delay.
Links in the theme Header are static elements. If you set the Header link as an absolute link while working on localhost, you should change the link in the desktop app to the new link and reinstall the theme. Theme icon links are not updated as this is not a dynamic element. In this specific case.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Olivia, thank you!

Regarding your answer - I was thinking just like that - but...

Let me explain:
The header links ON A NORMAL page (not Woocommerce page) during the testing time on a local XAMPP server - WILL BE UPDATED upon export to the live site with the correct domain-name.
In my case - the link to MY ACCOUNT (on a NORMAL pages) works just fine in a local environment as well on the live server..

Paradoxically, the very same link on a WOOCOMMERCE TEMPLATE HEADER page is truly static and do not update upon export on a live server.

----------Olivia, you'll understand what I'm talking about if you follow these few steps----

  1. Go to my DEMO website:
    https://s-blasic.com/puzzle0108/
  2. Click on a HUMAN ICON in the header of the INDEX page;
  3. The link is working and it will took you to MY ACCOUNT page
  4. Now, do the same but on the WOOCOMMERCE page;

  5. Click on the SHOP link:

  6. Now click on the HUMAN icon (my account) in the HEADER

  7. The link doesn't work...

Trust me - the link has the same URL like the one on a NORMAL PAGE in my NICEPAGE project...

It will be very convenient that the links on WOOCOMMERCE PAGES got updated with the actual domain-name upon export like the links on a NORMAL PAGES (THEME PAGES) ...

Hi Sinisa,

If you specified a link to one of the project pages, the Nicepage plugin generated the proper link while you imported the theme with content to the local CMS. I don't know how you transferred the local website, but the theme is a static element. The links to the Nicepage pages are generated during importing content with the theme (not just importing content and not during installing a theme without content). Therefore, to generate the desired links you should either import theme with content or edit links in the Desktop application.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Hi Olivia - OK I'll manually handle this.

But, this thing it worth looking into by the DEV girls & guys because this problem occurs because the desktop application - when exporting to WordPress -does "not treat" the links in the Header of the regular pages the same way like the HEADER links of the Woocommerce TEMPLATES.

In other words, upon the partial THEME export (NOT the FULL export: pages, images etc etc) - so, when I just export the THEME partially (i.e. because I have changed just a thing in i.e. Product Template page) - the links in the TEMPLATE HEADER are not getting updated. The ones in the HEADER of the normal pages does...

Hopefully my comment could be of some help to detect this minor issue...

Cheers!

Sinisa
