If you have built your own HTML websites like me you might use and know about the rel=canonical indexing of a page. When building and export HTML websites using Nicepage you will find the developers have pointed the rel=canonical to the index.html page from every page you create, I do not like this and have been asking them to change it to point it to its own page. This has not been done and they have stated,
In the case of HTML export, we use index.html as this is website front
page on all websites. This is the most universal and working solution.
If you know about using a rel=canonical and want your page to be indexed in search engines like Google I would have thought the preferred option would be one like I am using by creating content for each page and pointing the rel=canonical link to itself. I only change it to point to a different location if there is a master created page were I pinched my content from and have duplicated this content on my new page, for this reason I want the original page used for indexing instead. Similarly I might get permission to publish someone else's page content on my website so I point to their page.
I have also asked them to put in a special feature into the “Site Settings” so we can choose what we want, but unfortunately they do not think it is that important.
Nicepage is going to so much trouble to help us create stunning pages & themes without the use of coding so I feel they need to get the coding right so we do not have to open and edit the code ourselves.
What are your thoughts? I would appreciate a vote here and any feedback about this topic so the developers can see if they have made the correct choice.
