Linking to blocks in password protected page

Would it be possible to have links going to blocks in password protected pages? At present the link just goes to the page.
This would add a bit more to what is a great feature. Previously I had a protected folder on the server but this entailed effectively having two sites - one protected and one not. This was set up before folders were introduced.
