Adding Simple Text is strangely difficult

Report a bug

When you take a template and then try to alter some text, it all seems very clumsy.

  1. Text added goes bold and does not take on the properties of the dummy text already in the box.
  2. When delete the dummy text is seems to corrupt the first few lines of the new text added. This is a very basic feature this should really work perfectly. Not impressed.
  3. Even more annoying is that i cannot find any manual to describe the correct method to add text and replace existing text.

Generally speaking there does not seem to be a detailed manual with step by step instruction on how to use Nicepage. If such exists can you email me it as a Word document so i can amend it for client use. otherwise they will go crazy trying to make basic changes.

Many Thanks

Hi,

When you take a template and then try to alter some text

I assume that you want to add some text instead of dummy text on the Post or Blog template? Please note that this is a TEMPLATE. These templates do not create pages. Templates are responsible for the appearance of the specific CMS pages (single Posts and pages and Blog layout pages in WP). Once you install the theme on your CMS the template will be applied to the WP pages and instead of dummy text, you will see the content of the existing CMS pages.

There is no need to edit a dummy text.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Hi Olivia,
Thanks for that. Unfortunately I was specifically talking about HTML websites, not blogs/posts and definitely not Wordpress websites. I am specifically talking about taking a pre-designed template as follows
E.G.
https://nicepage.com/Page/Preview/20573/Discover-a-world?device=desktop

And then editing the text in the template with my own text, photos, etc. Swapping a photo usually works okay, but swapping the dummy text with our own text seems to have some bugs. Please see screen shots.

You see i add new text and it takes on a bold format, possibly even a new Font style. I would have expected it to take on the style of the existing text in the grid boxes as set in template Heading/Text/etc.

I cannot find any instructions or explanation of why this does not work.

Can you try it at your end, you will see the same problem in any template.

Thanks

Andrew,

This is strange. I've loaded the design you provided and changed the text without any problems:

my-test.png

I also tried to copy the text from MS Word by simple copy&paste. Everything is ok.

You see i add new text and it takes on a bold format, possibly even a new Font style. I would have expected it to take on the style of the existing text in the grid boxes as set in template Heading/Text/etc.

Could you please attach the problem website that demonstrates the issue (if possible please make two pages with the same design and reproduce the issue on one of the pages).
Did you type the new text or copied this text from some external source?

Hi Olivia,

Thanks for reply, I have copied and pasted the text from Google docs, so maybe that is causing the problem.
I will try from notepad and MS word.

Thanks
Andy

Hi Andy,

Looks like the text copied from Google Docs contains additional formatting. Usually, it happens with the text from MS Word. But no this time. Anyway, CTRL+Shift+V is a common combination to paste without format. It works with Nicepage too.

CTRL+Shift+V - has helped. Can we have right click, paste as plain text as well please?

The corruption was caused by one box on top of another. But i could not see that. Have you got any instructions on how to use the bring to front, etc. And how that fits into this website builder for designer and clients?
Will clients use this on CMS as well?

I still wonder if you have a manual i can read to help me learn how to use your Nicepage to build a website. The videos and text are good but there are many gaps.

Thanks

Hi Andrew,

We'll consider your suggestion. Regarding the Bring to Front option. When you click on the control, you see this layering option. You can use it to order the controls and set one to be on top of the another. There is no special instruction for this option, let me know if you need more explanation about it.
