YOu have made some really bad assumptions on usage of Lists

So I have tried a feature List, 3 columns and a grid repeater, 3 columns. You make the incorrect assumption that I want the same elements in each.

For example, in column 1, I want links. In Column 2 I want images and in column 3 a mixture of links and images.

As I add a link to column 1, you AUTOMATICALLY add it to column 2 and 3. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT.

So, how can I design a 3 column layout, such that I can have a unique layout in all 3 columns?

Try to use simple Grid with option "Columns are different" instead of Grid Repeater.
