Headers and footers are not inherited by the templates.

Report a bug

Hello, I have already mentioned this bug in another post and would like to increase the urgency.
I designed a template on the desktop app. With product templates and 2x customer templates. When I export or update the template, only the header and footer of the pages that are included in the export are updated. So pages that are on the website and are not included in the desktop app export have the old header and footer, EVEN THOUGH I DELETED THE OLD TEMPLATE.
I currently have a website that has three different headers and footers. VERY UGLY.
The main problem is that I can edit the header and footer online, which in turn ONLY affects the content pages. Changes to the header and footer are therefore NOT ACCEPTED ONLINE.

Hello René,

After the Theme is set to be default for all pages, all the Joomla pages should inherit the new Header and Footer.
As for the previously uploaded or created with plugin Nicepage pages, please check the page template configuration to be Theme Header and Footer. The theme settings for these pages is saved by the plugin, even though the theme file for the site could be deleted. Open the "old" Nicepage page with the plugin editor and change the configuration for the page in the right property panel. Note, changes would be applied with live preview of the page, not in the editor.

Let us know your result, please.

Hello,
so you say that whenever I update the template, I have to change the header and footer settings in all content pages?
So I'm supposed to make a note of all changes to the header and footer and then apply them in the online editor. That's a very bad joke.

The main problem with this is that the changes made by the online editor are not passed on to the template pages (product page, product list). So again there is only one way for me to add all the pages I have created online to the Nicepage app. Also a joke.

I have to emphasize again that inheritance doesn't work even if I completely delete nicepage from the online site. So Nicepage Component and there Nicepage Template! The online site is completely free of Nicepage and is supplied with new components and templates via the template import.
How can this be when there is only the NEW plugin and component on the page?

Greetings

René,

No.
Page template configuration allows the user to select the options like Nicepage Header and Footer, Theme Header and Footer or Theme Template.
These options are appliable to the pages (content) created with Nicepage. You can set the different header and footer in the plug-in editor on the site and that header and footer will be applied to the pages created with Nicepage that are using the Nicepage Header and Footer options. Both other options will be using the Header and Footer from the active site theme for the pages created with Nicepage.

The Theme Templates (Blog, Post, Login and 404error Template) can be edited only in the desktop application, you need then to export it as a Theme and install on the site. After this newly updated theme will be installed and set to be default for all pages, you decide what Header and Footer will be applied to your Nicepage pages, that are already existing - from the new theme file( Theme Header and Footer or Theme Template) or remain as it is using Nicepage Header and Footer as Page template configuration.

The main problem with this is that the changes made by the online editor are not passed on to the template pages (product page, product list). So again there is only one way for me to add all the pages I have created online to the Nicepage app. Also a joke. - Product list and Product details are part of Theme templates and could be adjusted only with desktop application.
Once again - if you need to change the Theme templates - change in desktop application - import and upload theme only. If the newly uploaded file has some differences in the Header/Footer - change the page configuration with the plugin editor for your existing Nicepage pages to Theme Header and Footer.

Please send here some screenshots about your latest paragraph, so we could understand, you have no plugin installed on site and only using Nicepage Theme, is this correct?

You can try Themler. As Nicepage developers says - Themler is advanced and stable tool. There is no problem with Header (Header will the same for all pages, also you can override it for Home page only). Nicepage in development stage (new updates brings new bugs), while Themler is complete software.

Also you don't need to use Desktop app to modify Header and Footer in Themler - all works in one place (directly on your site), that more conveniently.
