Ask a Question

Has anyone had experience with uploading blog entrees to an HTML website? I know in Joomla or Wordpress we can just use the backend of the CMS to do a blog entry.

To create an HTML blog post though, I go to my NicePage app and create an entry, then I completely delete my website and then upload the new version. Is there a way to make new blog entrees from the html server?

Or, if I do a blog post, can I just upload and replace the updated blog folder, and likely images folder so I don't have to start over each time?

I'm not sure what files may change when I create a new blog post, so I just replace everything. I'm wondering if there is a simpler way other than using a CMS. My guess would be that I could just upload the new blog folder to replace the old one, and maybe just add my photos to the "images" folder and that would cover it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Doing some additional reading now. Thanks!

Sorry i wasn't clear.
My GoDaddy root folder has my nicepage contents, plus a few other items placed there by godaddy. I also have an htaccess file. Also my scripts folder has a couple other scripts.

So if I just upload my latest nicepage.zip, and uncompress and "replace", I would lose the scripts that are not part of nicepage.

I figured that I might be able to unzip the nicepage zip locally, choose the blog folder, or images folder, and just upload and replace those specifically rather than having to sort through everything when I make a blog post.

If I was using a CMS, I would just go into the back end and create a new blog article and done. Since I am using an html website, I was wondering if there was some way to add blog posts short of having to go through a complete replacement each time.

I have a hunch not, but if so I could save some time. Or if I could create a number of blog posts and hide them until they would be ready to reveal. Just curious if I have any control there. I used to use Artisteer and Joomla, but Nicepage allowed me to be more creative with my websites without all the backend issues. I don't need that completely of a site. I liked that I could just build a site locally in nicepage and then upload.

See if that helps. Thanks!

Hi Lawson,

Unfortunately you cannot work with the simple HTML site the way you work with CMS. That is the point of using CMS so you could be able to arrange posts and other content easily. When creating the HTML site there is no any backend that can be used for managing the blog posts, you will need to upload the whole site each time you add a new page or post to your site.
