Where is documentation about configuring Header/Search block?

Ask a Question

I'm picking up maintenance of a site built with NicePage by a former developer. Previous versions of the site didn't make use of the Search bar within the header, but the site owners now want to use Search.

I am aware that for Search to work the site must either integrate with a CMS (wordpress or joomla) or must be supported by 3rd-party search (google site search or something like that). I'm not sure how this would work....

I don't see much documentation about the Header and Search blocks (https://nicepage.com/doc/131313/header). Can you point me to more comprehensive documentation, or otherwise instruct me on how to use the Search feature? Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for your interest in Nicepage!

Indeed, the Search feature in Nicepage is presented only for websites on CMS (WordPress and Joomla). In this case, the Post Template is used for displaying the search results.
For a static HTML website, you can try to use third-party search components such as Programmable Search Engine made by Google. Please refer to this link: https://programmablesearchengine.google.com/about/
Or you can find another search component, it's up to you.

Anyway, we will consider your request about describing the Search Element in our documentation. Let us know if you need our further help!

Thanks. Could you elaborate on how Search works with either wordpress or joomla? Or if that's already documented, point me in the right direction?

Hi,

The principle of the Search function in WordPress and Joomla is the same. It searches for words that can be found on your website. It can find either the Posts or Products with a searchable word. The results are displayed with the help of the Post Template. That's how it works. If you have any particular questions, don't hesitate to ask us!
