I personally think it is not a good idea to give the client too much options. The client comes to me because he or she doesn't know how to design a website, so if you give them full access to the app it will only confuse them, and in the end they might screw up the design.
Wouldn't it be better to give the clients access to what they only need? Something like what wordpress has now? I for instance have clients who only wanted to be able to focus on the blog-post in their WP-website so I gave them the role of "author". That way they do see the plugins and all the other options so they don't get confused. Too much options for clients will only make it harder for them. Simplicity is key.
