Ask a Question

Hello,

I've exported the website to html. My question is whether it is necessary to upload both the home.html and index.html files to the server, or is it enough to upload only the index.html.
Can I change the page name from home to index in the editor? So there would be only 1 file.

Thanks!

Hello Zoltánné,

You need all components that were exported as HTML from Nicepage Desktop.
In the folder, you already could see the index.html file and if you will change names in the exported project it will affect all paths that are defined in other files.

Hello,
I am moving from using Blocs to using Nicepage and also am confused about this. I don't need and don't want to have a home page that is different from my index.html. How can I set things up so that the home page - i.e. the one linked to my logo in the navi is index.html? This has been standard procedure for as long as I can remember, and I have never come across an editor that creates a home.html and an index.html.

If I give somebody my web address I don't say www.mypage.com/home.html, I just say www.mypage.com. The server points it by default to index.html.

This will really mess with Google Analytics as well.

Thanks!

Zoltánné,

This is done for compatibility purposes in some servers. Some servers require the index.html file to load the page. The index.html file does not exist in the project. It is created during the export as a copy of the page specified as the home page under the Site Settings. The index page is necessary. Please try to set the canonical links in the settings or ignore Google notifications, as they are not always actual and critical.
