Ask a Question

What can I do... with Wordpress plugin I keep getting the Max File Upload 3MB error. I tried everything: in htaccess, in functions.php, with a plugin. Nothing helps.
Wordpress Media says max file size is 250MB (thanks to the plugin setting), but when I try to upload a new image of about 10MB in a section I still get the 3MB error.

What is going wrong??

Hi Kees,

Did you check limitations in php.ini (post_max_site_ upload_max_filesize and other limits)?

Yes. This is in my htaccess:

MAX FILESIZE WP

php_value upload_max_filesize 64M
php_value post_max_size 64M
php_value max_execution_time 300
php_value max_input_time 300
I even installed a plugin ("Upload Max File Size") and set it at 250MB

Wordpress Media is OK:
"Maximale bestandsgrootte van upload: 250MB." (Max file size for upload: 250MB)
Within WP Media I can upload a file up to 250MB without any problem.
So it should be working with NicePage plugin, but it doesn't....

Thanks for your attention. I like NicePage a lot by the way ;-)

Hi,

Nicepage plugin is just a WP plugin like any other WP plugin. It has no relation to server limitation.
If CMS returns a message about file size limitation then it is specified somewhere else.
Please note that in some cases you need to restart web server for the changes to take effect. If you're working with the remote server I suggest that you contact hosting provider and ask them why you receive such error when you're trying to import CMS plugin.

I understand. But you say "If CMS returns a message about file size limitation then it is specified somewhere else."
But CMS does not return a message, only NicePage plugin does that when I use the upload facility like in the attachment:

As I mentioned before I'm able to upload a file through Wordpress Media without any problems.

Hi,

Nicepage uses WP image upload mechanism, The Nicepage plugin does not have any own limitations.
Did you try uploading the same image using WP tools directly? Does it work?

Yes, as I mentioned several times, that works. Even up to 250 MB per file...

I even tried to upload a file of 3.2MB in the online tool, through "My Sites", but this doesn't work either: same error, not able to upload above 3MB.

Hi,

I've checked the plugin code and looks like our developers added this limitation some time ago.
They added it because of the complaints about the performance of the site when the large images are used. But you can use the images of any size if you upload the image directly to WP Media library.
Sorry for the confusion.

OK,
I've just hit this problem after updating to NicePage 2.27.3
The limit has been set to 3Mb in NicePage
This IS a NicePage restriction as I can upload 25Mb in native Joomla.

Please advise

OK - I have a workaround

Check you have set the upload limit in Joomla (or your equivalent) at
[System] [Control Panel] [Configuration] [Global]
[Media] [Maximum Size (in MB)]

Up load your files in native Joomla
[Content] [Media]
On the left hand side select
[Images]
Upload your images

When editing in NicePage, select insert Image in the usual way.
Select My Images
Use the search to find the file name you are looking for.

This circumvents the 3Mb restriction.

Hope this helps.
