Hi all,

Not a question as such but more of an observation and advice to others. I have seen a number of posts asking about this.

When you create templates for Resale on platforms such as Theme Forest, Template Monster etc, please be mindful of a few things.
Do not just Export and upload to Envato. It will be Hard Rejected immediately. You have to make some alterations to your template.

  1. Your template must have a number of different variants. For example, if you are submitting a One Page HTML Website, you must have more than one version of that page. So, index, index1, index2 and so on.
  2. Typography has to be spot on. All headers, titles etc must be the same throughout and body text must also be the same, unless in a certain part such as Quote Box etc.
  3. Before submitting, upload your website to a live server, copy the URL to https://validator.w3.org/ This is not always spot on but it is in line with the Envato and Template Monster standards. It's what they use as part of their review process. You will need to fix any error that shows. Most of it is easy. If you ignore it your submission will be rejected.
  4. Very Important: Make sure your template is original and unique and modern. Don't just grab one of the ready-made templates and hope for the best. Chances are someone has beaten you to it and got rejected already. Create a template from scratch and make it stand out, modern and fully functional. Take a look at some of the Best Sellers on their platforms for inspiration and follow the submission guidelines at all times.
  5. Finally, do not upload stock images. Create placeholders to put in their place for the customer's download. You can use the stock images for demo purposes only but you must make them aware that the images are for just that purpose. Unless you own the copyrights to the said images of course.

This advice was given to me by a Reviewer at Template Monster who used to work at Theme Forest. So it is valid.

That's pretty much it.
Thanks and happy selling.
