Recaptcha v3 bot protection

Ask a Question

Google's Recaptcha service validates form interaction with a score, where 1.0 is very likely a human interaction and 0.0 is very likely a bot interaction.

It appears that some bots are able to submit forms created in Nicepage, and I'm wondering what threshold was used.

Can we adjust the threshold? I'm guessing that Nicepage set the threshold at 0.7 and perhaps it needs to be set at 0.8 or 0.9

Hello Marcus,

Unfortunately for spam protection, we use Google resources and Nicepage doesn't have its own bot protection functionality.
Also, changes in bot detection can influence that some users e-mails and information will not be delivered.

HI Negat,
I don't understand what you mean. Google's own information https://developers.google.com/recaptcha/docs/v3 says that

reCAPTCHA v3 introduces a new concept: actions. When you specify an action name in each place you execute reCAPTCHA, you enable the following new features:
A detailed break-down of data for your top ten actions in the admin console
Adaptive risk analysis based on the context of the action, because abusive behavior can vary.
Importantly, when you verify the reCAPTCHA response, you should verify that the action name is the name you expect.

The action a form takes is based on the score returned by reCAPTCHA.

the score for this request (0.0 - 1.0)

Hi Marcus,

That means that those settings are not managed via Nicepage. Threshold options are available for you in the Google admin console, and you can change the threshold settings to any others that you need for your website protection.
