How do I get my project file into my website

I have my own hosting, so this is what I do.
I export the site as HTML (and DO check the box that also exports the project file for backup) to a folder on my PC.
I then use Filezilla to connect to the host to upload the site files.
Godaddy uses the public_html folder to put the files.
