Ask a Question

Hi folks,

there are two ways to insert external script codes and let it run by user choice.
1. the Google Tag Manager, where you can setup a lot of already given code snippets
2. the GDPR option inside nicepage.

I wonder what is the correct way to insert script codes like bots, analytics, chats and all the other stuff, which need the consent of the user.
The GDPR option inside nicepage seems very handy for all that scripts codes which need to be placed inside the head tag. They only runs when the user gives his consent.
The only (little) problem which I see with the build in GDPR tool is, you can't be selective with your choice because you haven't any toggles to switch each script ON or OFF like other consent tools in the market.

Anyway... the GTM hasn´t this option too :-) So what is the best way to insert such code snippets.
Which way has which advantage?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Cheers
Markus

Hi Markus,
Thank you for using Nicepage!

I wonder what is the correct way to insert script codes like bots, analytics, chats and all the other stuff, which need the consent of the user.

It depends where you want the bots, chats to appear. If you want to implement a code on a specific page\pages, you can do that by adding an HTML element from the Element menu.

If you want the changes to be applied to all the pages, you can do that from Site Settings.

hi Liloneta,

I know that, but i don´t which is the better way.. by GTM or the custom head code in nicepage?
GTM can be integrate in nicepage too, so what is the best way.

The GDPR option in nicepage has also the option to run the custom scripts only when the user clicks OK in the banner.

So, custom scripts placed in GTM or in GDPR Cookie banner option?

Cheers

Hello Markus,

Again, it depends on what the instructions of the code snippet say. For example, you want to add a bot as you mentioned previously. If it needs to be added to the head, go to Site Settings >> HTML tab >> Additional Head HTML.

If the code needs to be inserted in the body, this can only be done by using an HTML element from Element >> HTML.

If you want to add both Google Analytics and GTM, add one in Site Settings >> Google tab, and the other in Site Settings >> HTML tab >> Additional Head HTML.
