Very high CPU

Ask a Question

I have a Macbook Pro with i7 processor and 16GB RAM and SSD.

Nicepage has been using very high CPU for a long time. Each update I hope it will improve but has now got to the point where the program is unusable. The fan starts spinning and every program on my machine slows down.

I've looked at other similar posts but they mostly relate to Windows and the suggestions around Antivirus etc don't apply to me as I don't run any on my Mac.

See the screenshot showing 2x Nicepage Helper processes: The first using 227.9% CPU and the second 141.4% and not responding.

Hi, Mick,

Clarify please, do you have this problem with one Project or all of them? Does Nicepage work slowly right after creating a Project or after adding Blocks and Elements?

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the response and sorry for the delay replying, I've not used Nicepage for the last few weeks.

Yes it happens across multiple projects. I seem to get the very high CPU and process "Nicepage Helper (not responding)" usually after either Export to HTML or Preview in browser.

Just updated to v3.15.3 today and still the same.

Regards,
Mick

Hi, Mick,

Have you tried to turn off the firewall? Also, try running Nicepage with all other apps and programs inactive. After doing these things, let us know about the result.

Hi Paul,

I don't run a Firewall or AV on my Mac.

I have tried closing other programs but the problem is still the same on Exporting to HTML or Previewing in browser. CPU jumps to +100% and fan starts spinning.

The only workaround for me is to export to HTML, close Nicepage, check the exported HTML, reopen Nicepage to make more edits, export to HTML, close Nicepage etc etc. and repeat each time I need to make changes. If I don't do the Export or Preview then I find Nicepage works ok and CPU isn't too bad.

Regards,
Mick

Hi,

Does the issue happen right after you launch the application or later? Does the issue happen with all projects to with specific projects/actions?

As I mentioned on previous post it is Exporting to HTML or Previewing in browser which triggered the 100% CPU.

The problem is across multiple projects.

Hi,

Does the issue happen when you export to a different folder or on the desktop?

Yes it happens no matter which folder I export to.

The CPU gets worse and worse every time you export. See the 3 screenshots. The first is after 1 export, the second after 2 exports and the third after 3 exports. Once CPU goes high it never comes back down again until Nicepage is closed and restarted.

Hi, Mick,

Does the browser which is usually used for previewing a website have many extensions or tabs (while previewing)? Do you usually add many Images and Videos to your Projects? Have you tried to reinstall the Nicepage application?

Yes I have a i7 16mb and find the exact same problem has Mick, very frustrating, especially when i am waiting for a new page to load after I choose it. I only have about 6 pages in the project.

Hi, Sherry,

Could you please create a new private topic and attach the troublesome Project there for investigation? Thank you.
