Ask a Question

Hello-

I'm a complete rookie to website building and distribution. As a result, I'm pretty much clueless when people ask things like, "Did you buy your hosting from the domain registrar?" My what from the what?

I bought a domain name from Google, and subscribed to Nicepage hosting. I built what looks like a nice site using an online Nicepage template.

But.... now what? I been sent numerous help pages that tell me to do things like edit my A record (my what?).

For example:
Please go to the domain settings on the registrar website where you have registered the domain itself (Godaddy, HostGator, Amazon Route 53, Namecheap, etc.) and set up your domain to point to the NicePage:
Go to the control panel of your domain
Find something like 'Add a record to DNS' in the settings
Do one of the following or both:
For a domain:
Add a type A record with empty Host (Hostname) and the IP address 35.157.174.232
Please note that the way how to set Host or Hostname may be different for different hosting companies. In some cases, you should use @ instead of empty filed. If you already have an empty or @ A record, you need to change it.

This is gibberish to me. is there a dead-basic tutorial for me to learn such things?

Hello DENNIS,

I have checked your previous questions and now please tell have you managed to Export/Import your project from the desktop application into Online Editor?
If so, and you are ready to publish your site you can do this just press the Publish button, you can change the name of your site before and press Continue:

publish.png

name-your-site.png

Afterward, you will receive a message that your site is now published (within your Hosting license under Nicepage hosting) with the domain name nicepage.io

If you want to assign your purchased Domain from Google to your site within Nicepage Hosting you need to login into our Google account at https://admin.google.com. Click on the Domains icon on your Admin console dashboard. You may need to click on More controls at the bottom of the screen to find the Domains icon. Click on the Advanced DNS settings link associated with your Primary Domain.

You can open this step-by-step instruction from Google https://support.google.com/a/answer/2579934?hl=en and our article once again https://nicepage.com/doc/1293/assign-a-domain

Locate the A records for your domain. You may already have one or more records resembling:

google-dns.png

Please open the menu as in this creenshot and input our IP 35.157.174.232

The last part is to point your new Google Custom Domain into your Site Settings in Online Editor.
Please open Site Settings input your Custom Domain and click Done:

site-settings.png

You will get a message after you click Publish and Preview with your two sites published within Nicepage Hosting and ith two different Domain names:

publish-and-preview.png

Let us know the result so we could check if your custom domain name is properly assigned.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Anna T.
