Editing Blog Page Template on WP Editor

A template is a part of the Theme and can be edited only in the desktop application.

I'm trying to add a sidebar to the blog. Can I make the change and re-upload the Template only without affecting my pages?

Sure, just export the Theme only, that will be a simple template without plug-in and content, it will change the theme only.
