Ask a Question

Hi,
I lost my complete website I made with Nicepage.
I do have the images and webpages from my webserver.
How can I get those back in Nicepage and continue my work ?
What is the required file structure, as I copied pages and Image folder to /documents/Nicepage Templates/ folder, but can not see that when opening Nicepage.
Please advise.
Eric

Eric,

Thank you for your interest in Nicepage.
Let's check your actions step-by-step.
We can see that you did export your Project and then opened index.html file as it supposed to be in your protect file on you local PC.
All projects are always saved into one folder if you didn't change the directory.
Did you delete your project from Nicepage App? Do you see it in your Sites as in the screenshot?

If no, you can Import your saved project in your Nicepage and edit.
The example of the file structure from - /documents/Nicepage Templates/ folder

Please feel free to ask any further questions.

Only exported project files can be imported.
If you have the working Site_##### folder, that might also work.
Project files should ALWAYS be created and put in a safe place as a backup.
You could recreate your site using the images and paste the text from the files you have.

Thank you for your quick reply.
I do not have exported or backed-up the site unfortunately. All data is in 'site3' directory under the /nicepage Templates folder.
After some trial and error, it looks like I do not have the 'site.jason' file, which seems to contain many config data from my site, templates, site_xxx reference etc.
Is there any way to 'reverse' engineer ? Any other location where site data is stored ?
Eric

We can see what official support says, but as far as I know, only project.zip files and Site_###### folders are the only things that can be used to get sites back from a disaster.

Did you have a hard drive issue?
Sometimes, you can use recovery software to get stuff back.

No I didn't have a disk issue, just cleaned up my disk. to many experiments, and the Site_xxxx is not really mentioning my sitename . . . . . I restored all from the trashcan but that didn't help either.
Hope there exist some sort of recovery tool, that can revive the data from my website into a format that Nicepage can use, so I don't have to start all over again.

If you deleted files and otherwise didn't change much, you might get lucky.
If you don't have any project.zip files, you'll need the Site_### folders, typically from inside the Documents\Nicepage folder.
Use a program like Recuva (which is old and might not work) or other newer recovery programs.
Most have a trial version that will show you what you could recover before you pay for it.
Make sure you download and run the portable versions from an external drive if possible, not from your C:\ drive.

OK, so what you say is that I need to recover the Site_xxx file and that is it ?
Nothing else, right ?

Search for your website or page on Google's or Bing's results page.
Click on the arrow.

If you don't have a project.zip file (which would be best), if you find the Site_#### folders, you might be able to replace them into the Documents\Nicepage folder.
That might work to reopen the sites in the program.
I don't understand why project files aren't created and saved as the default, other than increasing the size of the uploads when sites are created. You have to check an additional box to do it. It should always be done.

Hi, after a bit of trying I got my Site_xxx in the right folder, and I can open that site. Issue is now that the pictures and templates are still gone. All pages are back at least, although incomplete.
Any idea how to fix the links to the original templates and links to images ? The images folder exists, with images.

Another thing I noticed, is that the Cascading Style Sheets disappear when I open the website in Nicepage.
Any idea what that is and why they disappear ?

I also upload the project file when I upload the site to the host.
That way I have a backup off site.
