Hi Rob,
You can create Pages in Nicepage desktop and then export the content, after importing in Joomla they will become articles. The Blog Template only allows you to create the design for the blog page, in Joomla you will need to create a menu item that will be using the Blog template. That menu item can be showing the articles that you have imported as the content from the desktop application.
