Nicepage doesn't remove old media when importing content

Ask a Question

When I make changes to my Nicepage-generated WordPress theme, I use the nicepage plugin to import the changes and REMOVE the existing content. This works as intended, moving the existing nicepage-generated content to the trash. Unfortunately, it does NOT remove the graphic files previously uploaded by Nicepage, so I'm finding the wordpress site growing uncontrollably as my dozens of uploaded media files are constantly being re-added. A look at my media library reveals dozens of copies of the same file.

Should Nicepage not also be removing the media files it uploaded when it is instructed to remove old content?

As a follow-up to this question, if I manually remove all the media files from the wordpress media library before importing content, will nicepage replace the SINGLE COPY of the files I need as part of the import process?

I see that Nicepage 3.11 indicates that media will not be duplicated after an import. I have yet to test whether this solves this issue.

Alright, I've tested the latest version of Nicepage (April 2, 2021 version), and after importing a project (with the option to replace previous content), the media files are still not being replaced. I have twice as many library images after the import as I had before the import. I was expecting that either the images would be skipped, or the old images would be deleted (replaced) by the new ones.

I have had some issues with images being erased properly when attempting a bulk erase operation in WordPress, so if Nicepage is trying to call the bulk erase program, that might be the cause. However, I don't think Nicepage would do that, otherwise, there would be the possibility of ending up with NO images if the import was somehow interrupted.

Anyway, I'll test again on a different system, but for now, it appears my intial problem still exists.
