Ask a Question

Hi.
OK, I have downloaded the nicepage desk top (I think this is the HTML editor).
I have built a one page web site with a subscribe form from mailchimp, all working great, thank you AWESOME, so easy to use.

Now I would like to add a blog section to my site so I can blog articles and podcasts etc.
This is where I am totally confused.

Do I now download the wordpress website builder as a separate app onto my computer?
If so then how do I keep my webpage as the landing page and the blog pages as just a blog link on my home page?

I would assume then that if I make changes to my website (original) I do that through the nicepage HML editor
and if I do blog changes I do that through the wordpress website builder, do I understand this correctly?

So to re cap.
1. How do I keep my webpage built in the HTML editor as index (home page) while adding a blog?
2. Do I edit blogs through wordpress website builder and edit my homepage through HTML builder?

I hope someone understands me as I am totally confused.

  1. Also does the Premium $59 plan give me both the HTML editor and wordpress website builder?

Currently in the 7 day free trial, I am assuming they all work for 7 days to trial.

Thanks love it so far.
Paul

Hi,

Nicepage Desktop application is a website builder. The website created in the Desktop application can be exported as a static HTML website or WordPress theme+content.
As I understand, you do not want to use WordPress. But you want to make a static HTML website with a Blog. At this moment, the blog feature for the HTML website s still in process, but it is already available, and you can use it.
Please check the Elements Menu >> Blog. Here you can add new Posts (articles, podcasts). Then, depending on your needs, you can make an automatically generated blog page based on the Theme >> Blog Template, or you can add Blog control to the existing Nicepage page. I suggest that you start with the second option to understand better how this feature works. The Blog Posts control is available under the Elements >> Blog menu.

Nicepage Personal license includes both HTML and WordPress (Desktop app and WP plugin).

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

If you are still there couple of issues.

I have purchased now.
1. On the bottom of my webpage is, "Website Templates created with Website Builder Software".
This is tacky and makes my webpage look like I use free software. How do I get rid of this please?

  1. The blog section is not a easy to use. I can not seem to get the review edit to show of have an image. I have found the generic images in the template section but the individual blog does not show or allow me to ad my own image for each blog post. How do I do this.

  2. Just to make sure I understand. I am using the HTML editor only. I do NOT need to add plugin do I, still a bit confused.

  3. Once you make a post it does not come up in the menu item. I am sure I could work out how to ad but not sure if I have missed something here. Also I have found the blog link but once you click on the blog there is no menu to go back to blog home or to next and or previous blog, again not sure if I am missing something here.

Thanks for being patient with me. The Blog https://nicepage.com/doc/83207/blog-posts?uid=e215024f-38bd-4bcb-a6d5-416c0526ac46 in post was good but didn't seem to help with my issues.

thanks

Paul,

On the bottom of my webpage is, "Website Templates created with Website Builder Software".

You can remove the link in Site Settings dialog on General tab. Uncheck the Display "Made with Nicepage" checkbox.

the individual blog does not show or allow me to ad my own image for each blog post

In Nicepage 3.5 version you can change the blog post image with adding new one to the Post content. The first image in the Post content will be shown on Blog page.
In Nicepage 3.6 there will special option Feature Image for Post. The Nicepage 3.6 update should be available this week.

Once you make a post it does not come up in the menu item

Nicepage doesn't add new post to your site menu like it does for pages.
Just imagine, you have 10 pages, but 100 posts.

Also I have found the blog link but once you click on the blog there is no menu to go back to blog home

Thank you for reporting the issue. it's fixed in Nicepage 3.6 version.

Thanks I will check out the new version.

For those who fine this post and need a work around. My work around has been this.
- Make you blog post as normal. Add the image you want make sure the layout is correct. I needed to change it just a little.
- Save it and export as normal.
- Now in the nicepage template folder on your computer do the following BEFORE uploading onto server.
- Open the image folder. Delete the "1.jpeg" and rename the image you wanted to "1.lpeg" (NOTE I did not realise it was a jpEg and I was naming it a jpg, this will fail as the coding in the background is "jpeg" including the "e" in the file name.)
- Upload onto your server and it now works with your image rather than the default one.

Anyhow hopefully the upgrade has fixed the issue.
