Page title styles: differences between Nicepage pages and non-Nicepage pages

Ask a Question

I'm creating a WordPress website that has some Nicepage pages and some non-Nicepage pages (mostly because it's easier that way - I have a large table that I will regularly update by pasting in from a spreadsheet - this is simple in a standard WordPress page, but, I think, Impossible in a Nicepage page; I also have another page with an accordion, which Nicepage doesn't (yet) have).

For the Nicepage pages, I put a block at the top that has the page title in either Title or H1 styles (I've not yet decided).

The non-Nicepage pages automatically include the page title but in H2 style. I'm not sure I can easily change this but probably could by tweaking the code, but this seems the wrong way to do it.

I could probably also add a CSS override to change the page title to style it the same as H1 or Title, but I'd need to remember to change that if I ever change the template styles.

There are some plugins that will remove the page title from a standard page (but the ones I've found may not be up to date), so I could use that to remove the automatic title then add the title at the top of the page. However, the standard TinyMCE editor doesn't give Title as a style option (but I could make it H1). I can't see any way of adding the Title style to the editor options.

So, there are several possible ways to make the title of a non-Nicepage page look the same as a Nicepage page but can anyone suggest which is the best way? Or is there another way of achieving this?

Also, what is the Nicepage Title style used for? Is it supposed to be for the site name in the header?

All thoughts on this appreciated!

Alan,

If you are not using the Nicepage theme as active, you will not see the styles you see in the Editor. If you install the Nicepage's theme, you can still add pages in WordPress. However, those pages will have Nicepage's typography.

I am using the Nicepage theme that I created in Nicepage for desktop but the TinyMCE editor doesn't show the Title style. All it shows is:

Paragraph
Heading 1
Heading 2
Heading 3
Heading 4
Heading 5
Heading 6
Preformatted

I don't know where it picks the list of these styles up from so I don't know whether this is something to do with WordPress or the Nicepage theme.

However, the main issue is, I think, that a non-WordPress post/page has the title of the page styled as H2, so if I want non-Nicepage posts/pages to look like Nicepage pages, I need to style H2 for use as a page title. I don't think there's any way to change it to use, say, the title style, without changing code.

In case it helps anyone else, there is a 30px top margin that I think WordPress automatically adds before the title of a non-Nicepage post/page, so any Nicepage post/page need to have that at the top before the title element to make them identical.

Alan,

You can try using reformat the text using the HTML Element. We do not have support for TinyMCE.

I think you have misunderstood but I have clearly failed to explain it properly.

Never mind - it's not really a Nicepage issue per se, but was really just asking if anyone had suggestions that would help.

I have resolved it by styling H2 to the same as the Nicepage title style so that WordPress uses that for the title of non-Nicepage posts/pages and adding a 30px margin before my title element on my Nicepage pages. Nicepage and non-Nicepage pages/posts now look identical.
