Hiding menu items on specific pages

Ask a Question

I am designing a bi-lingual site. So, each English page has an equivalent French page. In the menu, each English page needs to have a link to the corresponding French content, and each French page needs to have a link to the corresponding English page.

Let's say (for brevity) the site is about animals. On the English page, I want to show menu items such as "Cat", "Dog", "Horse" while the french page should have menu items such as "Chat", "Chien" and "Cheval". In addition, on the English pages, there should be a persistent link that takes you to the corresponding page in the opposite language. So, each English page would have a link displaying the word "francais", but the actual link would be the french equivalent of the current English page. Similarly, each French page would have a link display the word "English" which would take visitors to the equivalent page in English.

For three pages, I believe I would need 12 links (3 english links for page names, 3 french links for equivalent french pages, 3 links - each with the text "English" - to lead to English translations of the three french pages, and 3 links - each with the text "francais" - to lead to french translations of the three English pages.

How do I go about hiding the eight links that are NOT REQUIRED on any of the three pages of the site so that only the relevant links would be displayed?

I don't want to use a CMS for the limited requirements I have. However, I believe that Artisteer had the ability to selectively hide specific items from the menu. I'm just looking to duplicate that functionality.

Hi,

We do not have any special multilanguage functionality and options to hide menu items on the specific pages. If you use some CMS, then you can consider using the specific plug-ins for your CMS to implement the multilanguage feature.
