Windows Reset, Reinstalled NicePage, Projects are Gone

Ask a Question

Recently I had to reset Windows which caused NicePage to be removed during the reset. I reinstalled NicePage and when I went to work on my websites, I discovered they were gone.

I have not been able to find any of my websites, even using the original paths to those folders. Some of the folders are completely empty while a few others have some .html files and a .json file that cannot be read.

If I try to import the .zip files that I exported to upload to the website, I get an error message, "Invalid file format."

This is very disturbing and upsetting.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi Cheryl,

Are you sure that the Windows reset has not removed the Nicepage folder from Documents? If that folder was removed during the Windows reinstallation, then there is no way to restore projects. Unless you have saved the themes exported in the Project format.

Hi Hella,

I have some folders that say NicePage_removed and others that just say NicePage - in the paths where they were originally located before the reset and reinstallation.

It does appear that regardless of where they were located in their respective paths, the files were removed or otherwise lost.

I'm not understanding why any of the files were touched at all when the program itself was removed and reinstalled. All my MS Office programs were removed and reinstalled and I did not lose any of my files. Same with my other programs. Only the removal of NicePage ended up losing my files completely.

Hi Cheryl,

If you have the NicePage_removed folder with files (one Project should contain HTML files and one site.json file) just try to place it in that location that specified in the Project folder field under the Profile >> Preferences at this moment.
Please note, the path must match the location of the folder and folder name of course too. Please check this.
Then restart the Desktop app (F5) and you should see all Projects (you have in NicePage_removed folder) again.

I've tried that over and over and nothing. There are no files left at all from my original work. The .json and .html files that are in the folders now are those of a 'new website' that was created when I opened NicePage.

I repeat, all my files are completely gone from all their folders.

And, nevermind. I found them in a Windows backup file and restored them. So I have them back now.
