nicepage desktop not updating after export

Ask a Question

I am using nicepage desktop version and created a test landing page. After minor editing, I exported it using the FTP option and I can see the files are properly uploading to my server, but the edited pages are not showing the latest changes. I have cleared my browser history and wondering if there is another level of cache that needs to be cleared. I also tried to view the updated website on two computers and still showing the version of the page that is the original, not the updated version.

Thanks

I will sometimes log into the host with Filezilla and delete the appropriate files, and some unused files from previous pages and reupload the new ones.
I would download anything you plan on deleting so you have a backup, or create a backup folder on the host and move the files you want to delete there.

Tried it and that didn't make any difference.

When I do the preview from nicepage desktop, the changes show, I save and then export using the export feature and now using FTP on my own, and the new changes don't reflect on the live site.

Are you sure you're taking the files from the correct exported folder?
Did you change where you are saving them?

Yes, I found the default location on my local machine and uploaded those files and did the FTP transfer from the desktop version of nicepage. I'm sure it's something very simple, but I haven't found the solution yet. Both processes are giving the same result. I'm glad the page is viewable and not getting a 404. LOL

Actually, I started using the Joomla extension since I started this project wanting to use Joomla as the CMS and I was running into the same issue there, so I uninstalled Joomla and started with a fresh server to see if using nicepage to handle everything was easier or better, but no change in the results not being updated live. When it was on Joomla, I used cache cleaner too which is very reliable in clearing the cache so updates are reflected, but even though, the updates never showed.

Thanks

Hi completepro1,

So you see that changes when you open the Project in Nicepage, but no changes in the exported website, right?
Do you see changes if you export the HTML website as a local folder? If not, please create a new private topic with a detailed description of the issue, a few screenshots, a Nicepage Desktop website exported as Project, and an exported HTML website with the issue. We'll check this issue on our side.

I'll give that a try and report back. I think the problem is actually more in the way the nicepage header/footers work with a theme. I say this because I'm using a theme and I have only changed the header/logo and played with the menu. When I preview the site, the headers and menu show OK, but after publishing, they don't show up.

I have finally come to the conclusion after watching how to import menus for Joomla that your system is too complicated. I have been building sites for a long time and writing old fashioned HTML would be far easier than using the instructions I found at https://nicepage.com/doc/article/9928/ to get a simple menu to work in joomla. Super confusing, makes very little sense and there is no other product on the market that makes building and publishing a menu such a task. I appreciate the support and think this product has huge potential but I don't think it's time for me to use this. Recently, I have used webflow and SPpage builder. I like them both, but I like how you can place elements anywhere with a drag on drop in nicepage and that's why I wanted to use it. Why would you guys make it so difficult to get a menu to work in joomla?

I'm writing to see if nicepage is a product I should invest my time in as I've lost a whole week on a client's website just wrestling with a menu issue. Right now I am very uncertain.

Thanks

Hi,

Nicepage uses standard Joomla way to display the menu: If you're using a Nicepage theme you just need to place Joomla menu module in the "hmenu" module position. The instruction you're referring to described how to import the menu created in the Desktop application to Joomla. But in this case, you just need to install the plugin and the theme and import the content. These are a few simple steps.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thank you for sharing the hmenu position. I hadn't seen any reference to it before you sending it to me and it made a huge difference. I'm able to better enjoy learning how to use this product now and I'm still very impressed with it and aim to be very skilled with it soon enough.

Thanks

True! It is so complicated and it is worthless even for free!

I can confirm that changes don't save. In my case I have two languages. I save and in the exported html file I see the same language for both...
