Image that overlaps the header and first block

I want a logo to be in the header but also overlap the first block below the header. Is there a way to do this? The first block is a slideshow of 3 images. I was going to add it to the header, but wasn't sure if that is the best solution. There is black background on the header, so the logo sits on top of the black background for the top half and over the slideshow image for the bottom half.

I think I figured it out. Move the image to the first block near the top and expand the image upwards. Seems to work.
