Ask a Question

Hello. I’m very much considering purchasing a lifetime license to use Nicepage, but I have a few questions I need help with first, as I’m not sure yet if it will actually work for me. The Nicepage support team was kind enough to provide me with 1 month free Business subscription to the service. Thank you very much for that. I’m going to try and get my website built over the next 2 weeks. So you know, I’m using the Nicepage Desktop app on my PC. I use Bluehost to host my website, and my Bluehost subscription uses the Wordpress Dashboard and site editor. With that being said, I have constructed a simple static “Coming Soon” page with the Nicepage plugin, and I’m using a Nicepage theme (Nicepage 01) that I had to create and upload via my PC app. It worked, but wasn’t as easy as I had thought it should be. Before I spend several days building a nice website I like using the Nicepage Desktop app on my PC, I have questions. I’d be very upset if I can’t get my work uploaded and usable to the Bluhost hosting I use.

1- I’d like instructions on how to save and publish my finished website to my Bluehost Wordpress account once I’m finished building the website.

2- I already have a Nicepage plugin and Nicepage theme installed in my Wordpress interface. Do I need to remove the current plugin and theme before I try to publish my new website from the desktop app?

3- Would it be easier to upload my website on the backend through my C-Panel File Manager? Replacing the “Home” Directory? Or just the “HTML_Public” folder? Or is it easier to use the publish button in my desktop app and my Wordpress interface.

4- If I make future edits to my website project using the Desktop app on my PC, how to I get those updates published to my live website? Surely I don’t have to re-upload the entire updated website again, do I?
I’m sorry to be so difficult, but before I lose hours or days worth of hard work, I want to be sure Nicepage will work for me now, and in the future. Thank you very much for your time and support.

Hello Christina,

Thank you for choosing Nicepage.

I understand your concerns, so let's address your questions step by step:

  1. How to Save and Publish Your Finished Website to Your Bluehost WordPress Account:
You can create the Nicepage Theme and Nicepage Content in the Desktop app.
The Nicepage Theme includes a header, footer, Blog and Post templates, and other Theme settings. Please customize all Theme elements under the Site Colors and Fonts and Templates tabs in the Desktop app.
The Nicepage Content is a static HTML Pages created in the Desktop app.
After that, you can export the Theme with/without Content and install it on your WP site:

  2. Should You Remove the Current Plugin and Theme?
You don’t necessarily need to remove the current Nicepage plugin and theme, but it’s advisable to:
Backup: Always backup your current theme and plugin settings before making changes.
Update: Ensure that the Nicepage plugin and theme are the latest versions.
Replace: If you’re importing a new design, you can replace the current theme with the new one exported from your Desktop app.

  3. Uploading via C-Panel File Manager or Using the Publish Button
Using the "Publish" button within the Nicepage Desktop app is generally easier and more streamlined than manually uploading via C-Panel. Note, you cannot import Content via the FTP function, only the Theme.
The Content (Pages and Editor plugin) from the desktop application can be uploaded only with Nicepage Plugin installation - Nicepage - import. The content is stored in the database. Therefore you cannot upload it by FTP.

  4. Updating Your Website After Future Edits
After making edits in the Nicepage Desktop app you can import your pages with the plugin import option in WordPress and change menu links after. Pages will be imported as new and added to the list of pages. You can edit your pages using a plugin editor and use desktop application to store and update theme file after each new version release.

If you encounter any issues, Nicepage's support team can also provide further assistance.
    ...................................................
    Sincerely,
    Anna.

Thank you, Anna! That was extremely helpful, and you answered my questions very thoroughly. It seems I'll use the "publish" button in the desktop app, rather than try to upload my site manually through the backend server. It seems to me, from what you've said, that it would be best to do a fresh upload, with both Theme and Content from the desktop app. I'm assuming I should keep my current Nicepage plugin intact and active when doing this. I will temporarily deactivate all my other plugins while publishing the new site from the desktop, in order to prevent any conflicts, and then simply reactivate them once my site/theme/content has been activated. I also assume that by publishing from desktop and choosing "Theme AND Content", that the uploaded .zip file will automatically switch my current "Nicepage theme 1.0" to the newly uploaded "Nicepage them 2.0" that I created with my new site in the desktop app. Is that correct? I hope this makes sense. Again, thank you so much for all your help, Anna!

Hello Christina,

Yes, in case you want to update your theme and content altogether, you should use the export option in the desktop app Publish >> export to WordPress of theme+pages and editor plugin and upload this archive via WP admin Appearence>> upload new theme>> continue within this wizart to import content(select all checkboxes to import content). By doing this you will import your site made with desktop at once and update your current site's theme and plugin settings.

Please check all the possible options with your current plan and let us know if you require any further assistance.

Sincerely,
Anna.
