Ask a Question

I am trying to track click to individual blocks on a page. I found this guide:

https://statcounter.com/support/faq/292-how-do-i-track-anchor-clicks-within-a-web-page/

I am using Nicepage on Wordpress. I have named the block anchors on this page:

https://brendanbishop.com/video

I had the statcounter app installed, but in order to add the code I deactivated and used a default installation, and added the code to the footer as an html block.
I then added the line of code to the bottom of the page, just before <!-- End of Statcounter Code -->

I have placed each video in an individual block. However, when I click on the videos I only get the stats for the page, not each block.

If I manually type in the block address like this

https://brendanbishop.com/video#showreel

https://brendanbishop.com/video#mongoosebeer

Then the stats appear for those views.

How can I get the stats on the clicks to the individual videos / block anchors, please?

Many thanks

Brendan

Hi Brendan,

The instruction says "and all clicks to anchor links will be recorded in your exit link stats". Click on the anchor link and click on the video are two different actions. In the first case, this is the link that navigates to the Block by anchor. According to your question, you need to track video views or something like that.
By clicking on the https://brendanbishop.com/video#showreel link you track the click on this link, not the video. The anchor link it the link to the element on the page(Block).

Hi Olivia,

Many thanks, that's what I was starting to think, unfortunately in that case their stats are not much use on this instance.

I also changed the position of the code to the very top, with the rest of the variables, which is where I think it should be.

All the best

Brendan
