Ask a Question

You have been very helpful and I thank you.
I have started with a fresh Joomla install, added the Nicepage extension and have created a page, with header and footer. I also created a menu for the page in the header but It won't display when I look via the front end. I've searched through the tutorials but cannot find how to create a menu in Joomla without using the Desktop version.

You are so right. I do often use it and that will work just fine. Thanks again.

You could then use something like Regular Labs's "DB Replacer" https://www.regularlabs.com/extensions/dbreplacer to do a database search for "/bergvlietdms/" and replace it in the entire database at once with "/"

Thanks for the help. The / made a difference but I also needed to add /bergvlietdms for it to work correctly. It still means I will need to edit the menu URLs once the site is live but that shouldn't take too long.

Thanks again for your help.

https://www.bartwebsites.com/bergvlietdms/index.php#about works, which means /index.php#about should work, not index.php the / might be needed here and so should just entering #about in the url field.

did you specify index.php or /index.php?

tried it myself on one of my own sites simply entering index.php#section_id doesnt work when on a different page using /index.php#section_id DOES work. The leading / is required.

I changed it to index.php#about but the menu item shows no index.php and doesn't work.

Hi,

You mentioned that this is the link to your front page website:

This is the default URL to the page: https://www.bartwebsites.com/bergvlietdms/index.php

But you're using the following link for About block:

https://www.bartwebsites.com/bergvlietdms/index.html#about

This is the wrong format. Please try

https://www.bartwebsites.com/bergvlietdms/index.php#about

In a previous post I mentioned that I have tried that but it takes me to an error page.

Please view the site at https://www.bartwebsites.com/bergvlietdms and then you can click on any menu item other than Our Team and all works fine. If you click on Our Team and then About Us you will see the error.

sure. Just leave out the main URL part and simply enter /index.php#block_id That'll load the index.php of the directory it's currently under. That's called "relative URLs" and are usefull for precisely such things.

That will work but since this is a temp site I will need to move it later to the actual domain and then I'l need to change all the links. Is there not a URL that will work both here and on the actual domain?

Hi,

If the block is located on the
https://www.bartwebsites.com/bergvlietdms/index.php
page please try
https://www.bartwebsites.com/bergvlietdms/index.php#block_id
This should help.

Thank you Olivia, this has been very helpful. I have managed to get points 2 and 3 sorted although it took a lot of time to get them working just right.

The menu I still cannot get sorted. I have created Menu Items using the Block Anchors but when the menu button is clicked on I get an error page.

  1. This is the default URL to the page: https://www.bartwebsites.com/bergvlietdms/index.php
  2. If I click the Home button this is what it is: https://www.bartwebsites.com/bergvlietdms/
  3. I have the menu item Home Page set as the default menu item
  4. For the About Us item I have the Url set as: home-page.html#about and also tried #about as well as home-page#about and index.html#about (I renamed the anchor to about)

I am building this site under a different TLD since it is still a temp site.

Hi,

How do I add other menu items that are blocks on the page?

Each Block has an anchor:

block-id.png

You can use generated id or change it to custom id and then add joomla menu item of "External Link" type with the link to the block:

#sec137b

or

http://www.site.com/page_name#sec137b

How can I style the menu to look like the one in this link, a bar across the entire screen: https://lishotto.wixsite.com/bergvlietdentaldms

Do you mean the grey bar with the menu? Simply add the Menu control in the Group and add Group fill.

On the same site as above there is a thin twin color bar at the very to and very bottom of the page, how can I create that.

There are a few possible solutions. Please try two Line controls or two Shapes in the Header and Footer.

Olivia

Hi,

Nicepage theme uses "hmenu" position for the Joomla menu module. Please make sure that you added the menu module in this position and assigned it to all pages.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Check your article settings. What's it set to?

Theme header & footer or nicepage header & footer?

It's working fine on my sites. Nicepage menu is visible and manageable in joomla's module manager.
