Ask a Question

Hi,

I came to realize that the FTP setings of the various websites I created with Nicepage are not stored with each website.
Therefor I have to manually alter these setting eacht time I upload a different website. Is this a bug? If so, can you repair it?

Hi Dick,

Please update to the latest desktop application and let me know if the problem persists. Each site should remember the FTP settings.

Hi Hella,
I always update the software whenever it is announced. But now I see that my version is 2.1.0 while the download version on your site has 2.2.2. Strange, isn't it? I didn't receive any updates lately. I now will install the 2.2.2 version and hope for the best...
Will let you know the result.

Hello again, it seems that it is now possible to store the FTP settings with the the according website.

Maybe it was not a version issue but the way Nicepage addresses the way to store this kind of data. On the export screen there are two fields with two different approaches: the first (FTP-settings) is loaded from a small database in which FTP settings are stored from all websites created. The second (Remote directory) can be filled with data that is directly stored with the according website.

I can't see why this choice to provide FTP settings is made because it is not likely that FTP settings shall be used on more than one website. So I wonder why Nicepage didn't choose the same approach for both of the fields on the export screen. Perhaps you cab enlighten me? This is confusing and not very intuïtive.

Anyway I now know how to handle this.

Dick,

1) Probably it was a temporary problem with updating to the v2.2

2) You may have one web hosting server that hosts several websites. In this case each website will share the same FTP server settings, but has its own remote directory.

Yeah, that's true. Thanx for explaining.

Another small question came up: everytime I start Nicepage I am logged in to your server. Answers to my questions are shown with a digit next to the users' icon. Then why do I have to do an extra login to view the questions/answers?

Dick,

Please mark the []Remember Me checkbox. This will remember your login and you needn't to login again.

Fair enough, but in fact not an answer to my question: the remember me checkbox places a cookie on my computer that does the login on the background. If I logout from my account online, Nicepage doesn't remember me anymore and I still have to login again, although I'm always logged in on the desktop software. It would be nice if my login credentials from the desktop software could be automatically passed on to my online account.

Dick,

We have such task in our backlog.

But this type of login brings some security risks, since the Nicepage desktop app and your web browser are different applications with different storage for cookies and other data.

Hi, I installed NP on my new laptop, saved my projects and reïnstalled them but the FTP settings are lost. Where does NP saves the FTP-settings? Perhaps I could retrieve them easily from the image I made of my former laptap...

Hi Dick,

If you have the new installation of the application, then you will need to enter the FTP details once again.

Does this mean that these data are not stored anywhere? This can't be the case... can it?

Dick,

The data is stored per project, however, it may not be recovered for the new installation.

I am using Desktop version 6.2.1 and my hosting provider provides separate logins for each website, but there seems to be no facility to save settings for each different site with Nicepage. How can this be achieved?
