Ask a Question

Hello,

Every time I install an updated template, and choose "Overwrite content", I still get all the images in again. Is this because I always give the changed template a different name? How can I prevent this? Because I can't overwrite the current template if I don't set another template as the default. I have to remove my current template to be able to install the template with the same name.

Hi Michiel,

Is this because I always give the changed template a different name?

No, this is not the reason that the images appear again. So do it and you needn't delete the previous theme before installation of the new one. But please note if you make changes in theme (in Blog, Post templates, and you need new header and footer) then yes, you should to reinstall the theme in WP. And if you do changes only in your content then just do the WordPress Plugin installation.

Pictures are not deleted or overwritten during Theme import. There is no such possibility at the moment. With any import, they will be added as new. Therefore, it is advisable to export the site after it is completely ready, and modify it in WordPress if necessary.

If you have a lot of unused images, you can delete them using the cleanup plugin, for example, https://wordpress.org/plugins/dnui-delete-not-used-image-Wordpress. This plugin removes unused images on the site.
But before using the plugin we recommend you do a backup, and only after this use the plugin.

Let us know if you still have any questions.
Thanks for being with Nicepage.

OK.. but, When I want install an updated theme.. with the same name, in Wordpress I have to delete the previous one before I can install the updated version.

In Joomla, I don't have to delete the original one.. I can update without to delete the original one!

Is this the normal way for Wordpress?

Hi,

Unfortunately, this is the normal way for Wordpress. For some reason, it does not allow to override the theme through the theme installer. It happens with all themes.
But you can update the theme by FTP. It should work ok.
