How to link menu items from a second page to sections on the homepage?

Ask a Question

Hi,
I just created a second page (Imprint), the header line with menu items is the same as on the first page (home).
It seems that the menu items can only link to the homepage itself or to sections on the same page - is that correct?
Or otherwise - how is the syntax to link to a specified section on another page?
Many thanks,
Catie

Hi,

Nicepage menu is a styled list with HTML links. Therefore it should work with any links.
Why do you think that the link to the block anchor is not working on the menu?
The thing is that the menu links cannot be edited in the Nicepage Editor. The menu is controlled by WordPress. Therefore you should create a menu link to the block anchor under the WP Appearance >> Menus.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thank you Olivia!

This works perfectly with the buttons directed to certain block. The menu doesn´t work the same way I see, since that takes more separate pages to address the menu items to, am I right?

I want at this stage to build a "one page" solution with just sections and blocks for visitors to scroll down and up, to keep things simple. So building only one page to Wordpress and the only navigation would be the buttons assigned to contact form would be enough now (in case the menu does not work with block anchors). Before I have a urgent need to build more pages, is this a sensible way to build this one page- solution?

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

WordPress menu settings do not display page anchors to create links. But you can set custom anchor for the Block in Nicepage and then use the anchor you know to add the link.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Hi!

How can I get the anchow for the section in Wordpress? Cannot see that.

My need is to link contact form from footer under several button, which say "ask more".

I am not planning using the menu at all, the whole page is just one page solution with section to scroll down. Does this make any sense for you?

Thanks!

I used this method but it always takes me to the last section of the page.

I have the same problem. It jumps to the correct page, but always to the last section.

I gave the anchor the correct name.
My used link on the startpage is: /freight.html#airfreight

Hi,

If you want us to investigate the problem, please provide your project and let us know what link should link to what exact part of the page. If the site is live, you can provide a link as well.

Hi Catie,

I'm not sure that it causes the problem. The main idea is to use the correct format of the link with the URL to the page with the section and then the anchor.
Please let us know if you need further help.

That helped - many thanks for your quick answer.
Is it possible that it did not work properly because I used umlaut vowels? Should one avoid using them?

Kind regards,
Catie

Go to the page you want to link to. Find the section you want to link to. Under the section tab, near the bottom is something called section anchor. Go back to the page you want to link from, select the page then append at end of url i.e. Page-2.html#sec-9f48 You should then be able to link to that section of the page.

Hi Catie,

I just created a second page (Imprint), the header line with menu items is the same as on the first page (home).

Yes, Header is an element of the theme. Both header and Footer are the same for all pages.

Currently, Currently, in order to link Section from page to the menu item, please switch to this page, click menu, click Edit Items, select item you need and click Edit, select Section (current page), choose the section you need, click Done. Unfortunately, you cannot link the Section from another page but you can use the item URLs in the following format: page_name.html#section_anchor
