Hi,

Yes, Nicepage allows to create Theme and Content either together or separately, so you can create independent pages in Nicepage, export them and use them with other Themes. If only content is needed, then you can use Nicepage plugin for WordPress to create it.

You can use Nicepage in an EXISTING Wordpress theme? That would be a big help. I don't want to change my current theme.

I'm finding this all very confusing. I'm clearly missing something between the desktop version and the plugin and using a theme and/content on an existing Wordpress site.

I think I have a good grasp of the desktop version (I've used Artisteer for a few dozen Wordpress and joomla sites). I can see that I can export a theme only (which I think will then act like any other WordPress theme and simply re-style the existing pages and posts when uploaded to an existing WordPress install) and I can see that I can export the theme and the content (eg home page and other pages) created in the desktop program.

However, I'm not sure I understand how any imported content interacts with existing pages already in WordPress: if I have a home page already, will the new content override it? What about other pages that have the same titles?

If I already have some pages in WordPress but haven't created them in the desktop program, what happens to them? If I created a menu in the desktop program, do I simply need to add existing pages to it after installing the theme and content?

Once I've installed a theme and after I change it in the desktop app, do I just need to upload the new theme (and content)?

I think an overriding question is what is the best workflow here: use the desktop program to create a new theme (and some pages), upload it to WordPress then finalise any minor tweaks there? With Artisteer, I could tweak the theme and upload it as a new theme - this worked well, but not sure about the interaction with the content.

I've watched many of the videos but all they seem to do is give a very simplified explanation of this - I could do with something more detailed so I can understand what it does before I do it for real!

Hi,

However, I'm not sure I understand how any imported content interacts with existing pages already in WordPress: if I have a home page already, will the new content override it? What about other pages that have the same titles?

Nicepage plugin will create NEW pages. Each WordPress page has a unique ID even if they have the same title. The existing WP pages will not be affected.

If I created a menu in the desktop program, do I simply need to add existing pages to it after installing the theme and content?

During the import process Nicepage plugin will create a new custom menu under the WP Appearance >> Menus. This menu will be used as Primary navigation. You can add new items to this menu in a usual way or change Primary navigation to a different menu.

Once I've installed a theme and after I change it in the desktop app, do I just need to upload the new theme (and content)?

In general yes. But if you changed the theme only you just need to reinstall the theme. No need to reinstall the content. The content can be edited directly in WordPress using the Nicepage plugin.
But if you edit content in the Desktop appliucation you will need to reinstall content. In this case, Nicepage plugin creates new pages or replaces existing NP pages from the same project with new pages depending on the selected option.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Olivia

Thanks Olivia. Very helpful.

A further question: If I create a website for my wife and upload that, can she then edit the template in WordPress on her website using the Nicepage plugin or does she either need her own licence or 'borrow' mine? What's the licensing rules here - I clearly don't want to have to buy a Pro licence for that!

Hi,

Yes, to be able to save changes in the posts within the Nicepage plug-in the license is required. You can give your account details to your wife. Or if you purchase the Pro edition or higher you can provide the Client License to her so she will be able to edit the content in the plug-in:

Hi Richard,

Unfortunately, your question is not quite clear to me. Nicepage creates pages based on the standard WP page. Therefore Nicepage pages can be used as any other WP pages. If you want to access this page on the front end, you should add a new menu item with the link to this page in a standard way.
