Ask a Question

Hi to all,
starting to use nicepage with joomla, so I need to understand if this is right:

1- with nicepage desktop (windows) I can manage the home page, the post template and the blog template. right?

2 - I can create single pages, each one different from the other ones. right?

3 - if I export the zip file and upload it in joomla, then I cannot edit the template in joomla.
I was able to do it with themler, but now, with np, I cannot edit and customize "on the fly" directly in joomla. I have to come back to np desktop. right?

4 - If I upload the template made with np in a joomla with some posts, then if I open a post I can edit thru the standard editor, but if I try to turn it to np, then I get a wizard that tries to rebuild my simple and clean page, adding sections / grids that I don't need and I don't want. right?

5 - So why I cannot use a simple blank model, where the post is simply imported? and then I can edit with np?

thanks in advance
denis

Hi Denis,

I'll try to clarify the process. You can use the desktop application for creating the template and content. You can style Blog and Post templates that will be used for the corresponding pages in the live site. Also you can add pages. Each page can have different content and they will be using the same Header and Footer.
You have several options to export from the desktop application. You can export the theme only. Then you can export the content separately (with the plug-in) or theme and content.
When installing on the site, you can activate the theme and then also install the content from the uploaded file. Note, that you need to have Nicepage plug-in activated in order to display the content created with Nicepage and edit the content further. In the site backend you can edit the articles using our plug-in. The articles created or edited with Nicepage cannot be edited with the other editor. If you try to convert existing articles into the Nicepage format, then the editor will take the text and images from the article to build a new page using the Nicepage sections and grids. It cannot copy the layout of the existing article. If you need to copy the text it may be easier to create a new post, insert the blank section and use the Text control to insert the text from your old article.
The theme can be edited in the desktop application only, so when changing the theme, you will need to upload the theme on the site again. like any other theme. The ability to edit the template in the plug-in is in our wishlist.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
